Longcase Clocks...
The firm of Shepperley and Pearce, are recorded as working in the mid
19th Century in Nottingham, the company founded by Anthony Sheperley
who was making clocks as early as 1814. Height 88 inches.
The automaton scene to the arch features a marching man in Scottish attire. Height 84 inches

Shepperley & Pearce, Nottingham, oak & mahogany longcase clock, Circa 1850 (Ref 906)
An 8 day oak and mahogany longcase clock, the case featuring canted sides, inlay stringing, and surmounted by a
swan neck pediment. The 13 inch convex painted dial has the scene of a sailing ship to the arch, Roman numerals and
a subsidiary seconds dial with piereced brass hands.

Mudie, Forfar Automaton longcase, C1780 (Ref 808)
An 8 day Scottish longcase clock with a brass and silvered break-arch dial, solid oak case, and a dome top pediment
embelished with 3 finials. The dial with silvered chapter ring, subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture, is engraved
with the name David Mudie, Forfar.

Camerer Cuss & Co, London C1860 (Ref 939)
An oak cased trunk dial timepiece with a 15 inch painted dial inscribed with the name Camerer Cuss & Co,
54 & 56 New Oxford St, London. The single train weight driven movement of 7 day duration has anchor escapement.
The case features a bulls eye lenticle and brass bezel. Camerer Kuss & Co was founded in 1788 by Johann Kamerer
in London, the company later anglicized the name by changing the K to a C.

Thomas Joyce, Whitchurch, Shropshire.(ref 3020)
An original trunk dial timepiece with a 8 day weight driven movement. The solid mahogany case features ebonised cock beading to the trunk door and the dial surround (both with locks). Other features include brass escutcheons and side access doors with catches. The 17 inch white convex dial is inscribed with the name Thos Joyce, Whitchurch. Thomas Joyce was born in 1793 and was the son of James Joyce. In 1834 Thomas started the manufacture of large clocks for public buildings. The Joyce family of clockmakers are well renowned.
Height 55 inches, dial surround 22 inches.
